Mangalore, Nov 17: The Mangalore Hobli Mahila Parishat will organise a convention for women at Bharathi College, Nantur here on Sunday November 19 at 9.30 am, said Parishat president Savitri M Bhat at a press conference held here on Thursday November 16.

The convention will focus on the need to strengthen women and uphold Indian culture, she said. Discussions on various topics related to problems of women and competitions will be held on the occasion.

Hosanagar Sri Ramachandrapur math seer Rashaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji will release a souvenir and also felicitate the 'ideal woman' representing Hobli.

The programme will be presided over by Gujarati Mahajanasamuha Vidyalaya principal Kavita Shastri. Programme compere of the city unit of AIR Shakuntala Kini, Besant Women's College senior lecturer Prof Sulochana Narayan and others will present papers on issues relating to women.

Office-bearers of the Parishat were present at the press meet.
