Mangalore, Nov 17: In the wake of the allegations against Congress leader D K Shivakumar of illegally storing iron ore, the district unit of Youth Congress accused the state government of using the forest department to implicate Shivakumar.
Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday November 16, Youth Congress DK unit president Jagannath Shetty Bondala said that chief minister Kumaraswamy has misused his powers in making the forest department file cases against the family members of Shivakumar and urged the Governor to intervene in the matter.
He further alleged that Kumaraswamy was trying to frame Shivakumar for gaining political mileage in view of the forthcoming by-election from Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysore.
He also urged the forest department to look in to the issue of the transport of 50,050 tonnes of illegally mined and stored iron ore from New Mangalore Port to China. The company involved in the transport was BSK export company, belonging to Kumaraswamy's family, Bondala alleged.
DK unit Youth Congress leaders were present at the press meet.
