Hong Kong, Nov 27 (IANS): Seven Hong Kong police officers have been arrested over alleged assault on a pro-democracy protester in October.

The Hong Kong Police Force said in a statement Wednesday that the personnel were arrested for assault following further investigation, Channel News Asia reported.

Footage of the alleged assault was aired by a local broadcaster TVB Oct 15. In the footage, a group of men, purportedly plainclothes officers, were seen hauling a handcuffed protester to a corner in Admiralty district and raining kicks and punches on him.

The protester was later identified as Civic Party member Ken Tsang.
