Mumbai, Nov 17: When most of the Konkani organizations in Mumbai think twice before holding any competition, the Maharashtra Konkani Association has ventured bravely in holding various talent shows for the ninth consecutive year. The talent show for children and elders was held at Antonio D'Silva Hall at Dadar which was filled to its capacity on Sunday November 12.

The competitions started in the afternoon and went up to late in the evening.  For the first time in the history of the city, inmates from Konkani guest houses (kuddam in Konkani) participated in the competitions.  Along with that Vakola parish organization "Vakolacho Tallo" too competed in the talent show.  People from Nallasopara to Churchgate from the western line and Dombivili to VT from the central side participated in the fabulous talent show.

Founder president of MKA Leo Fernandes was the organizer of the talent contest. Various competitions such as singing, dacne, extempore etc were held for all groups of children and elders.  Ancy Paladka, Kevin D'Souza, Antony Tauro, Haryboy, Lawrence D'Souza, V D'Silva, Joe D'Souza, Jessie Fernandes were the judges for the competitions.

Newly-elected President Benedicta Rebello, vice-president John Mendonca, secretary Vincent Castelino, tresurer Ron Michael, joint secretary Rony Crasta , joint tresurer Stanely Dias, director Walter D'Souza and members Mary B Pinto, Pramila Thereza D'Souza, Emiliana Fernandes,  Anthony Almeida worked behind the curtain for the success of the competition.

The results were announced at the end of the programme.  The winners are:
Singing below 5years age: 1. Lewin Jude Fernandes, Jerimari; 2. Aloysius D'Souza

Singing Solo 5-12: 1. Rhea D'Cunha, Amboli; 2. Glanshita Fernandes,
Sakinaka; 3. Sheryl Lobo, Kanjurmarg

Singing Solo 12-18: 1. Rolcy Sequiera, vakola; 2. Eshita Pais, Vakola
Singing Solo 18 & Above: 1. Philip D'Souza, Bhandup; 2. Avil D'Costa,
Fort; 3. Augustine B. Coelho, Dahisar and Precilla Fernandes, Dombivli

Senior Citizen consolation prize for singing solo: V. D'Silva

Singing Duet (Open to all): 1. Gavian Fernandes & party, Sakinaka; 2.
Ida Monteiro & party, Amboli; 3. Hilda Fernandes & party, Amboli

Singing group (Open to all): 1. Everest Lobo and party, Fort; 2. Archy
Fernandes and party, Chakala; 3. Vakolacho Tallo, Vakola

Dance Solo (Open to all): 1. Baby Valencia D'Souza, Jarimari; 2.
Jennifer Fernades, Bhayandar and Anish Mathias, Mahakali; 3. Aron

President Benedicta Rebello welcomed the gathering while vice-president John G Mendonca proposed the vote of thanks.
