Centre keen to promote rational use of drugs: Nadda

New Delhi, Nov 28 (IANS): There is need to create an atmosphere to promote rational use of drugs and use of generic medicines, Health Minister J.P. Nadda said Friday while adding that the central government is making efforts in this direction.

Efforts were being made to create conditions so that anti-microbial resistant drugs are produced within the country in large numbers, he said in the Lok Sabha during question hour.

At present, many anti-microbial drugs are imported from China.

Nadda said the central government needs cooperation of states in its efforts to check spurious drugs.

The minister said the central government was also trying to make medicines more affordable for the people.
