Police officer booked for misbehaving with woman


Gurgaon, Nov 28 (IANS): An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) has been booked for misbehaving with woman at a police station when she refused to pay a bribe allegedly demanded by officer, police said Friday.

ASI Narender Kumar, posted at Sector-5 police station has been booked for demanding money from Meenu Singh and misbehaving with her.

The president of the Sector-5 resident welfare association (RWA), Meenu Singh had gone to police station along with other RWA presidents regarding a rent issue with her tenant.

"ASI Narender Kumar insulted and misbehaved with me when I refused to pay bribe, which the accused called service money," she said in her complaint filed with police commissioner's office.

"Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk ordered that an FIR be immediately filed against accused officer as there were several eyewitness to the incident," Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajesh Kumar told IANS.

"ACP (city) Rameshpal has been appointed inquiry officer into the case. Further action will be taken on the basis of the inquiry report," he said.
