Countries along Silk Road discuss co-operation


Bishkek, Nov 29 (IANS): Governmental representatives and experts from more than 10 countries exchanged their practical views in the international conference on "Common Development and Prosperity of the States along the Silk Road" held in the capital city of Kyrgyzstan.

The participants Friday discussed cooperation in political and homeland security affairs, appraisal and future perspectives for development of various sectors of the economy, as well as cooperation in cultural and humanitarian areas between the countries located along the Great Silk Road, reported Xinhua.

The participants also exchanged ideas on issues like terrorism and security of countries along the Silk Road and the geostrategy in the region.

Director of Central Asia Institute from Shaanxi Normal University, China, Li Qi said that the delegates, keeping in mind the history, the reality and the future, explored how to build together the Silk Road Economic Belt.

Li added that one of the main features of the seminar was that the participants talked more about the practical aspects. A trend that is likely to promote cooperation along the Silk Road economic belt.

The international seminar on "common development and prosperity of countries along the Silk Road," was organised by the National Institute for Strategic Studies of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Committee of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic for International Affairs.

Governmental representatives and experts from more than 10 countries, including China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, US, Afghanistan, India, as well as representatives from international organizations attended the seminar.
