Pakistani leader shot dead


Islamabad, Nov 29 (IANS): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) Sindh leader Khalid Mahmood Soomro was Saturday shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan.

Soomro was assassinated when he was praying in a mosque in Sukkur city, Radio Pakistan reported.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned the murder.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah also condemned the attack and described it as a conspiracy to disturb peace in the province.

In a statement issued in Karachi, Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed police to nab the gunmen.

Inspector General Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali has formed a four-member committee to probe the incident and submit a report within 24 hours.
