Mangalore, Nov 18:
The All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA-DK) organized a seminar on Publicity Campaign in Anti-Female Infanticide on Saturday, November 18 at the Kandaya Bhavan here.

The aim of the seminar was to bring in awareness regarding the hazards of female infanticide. There has been a considerable decrease in the birth rate with regard to the sex ratio in the country, as per the recent census records, of 1000 : 927 as opposed to the earlier ratio of 1000 : 945.

Inspite of efforts from the Government and Law and order authorities, the problem of female infanticide continues to prevail, which are not enough. Unless awareness is not created at the grass root level and among the general masses, it cannot be rooted out completely.

President of the Association, Hemalatha presided over the function. Member of the State Committee, AIDWA, Dr Vasu, President Zilla Panchayat, Mangalore, Mamatha Gatti, and President of the AIDWA (DK), Yashwant Maroli were the chief guests.
