Daijiworld News Network – Mangalore (VM)

Mangalore, Nov 19: Kala Sangam 2006, conducted by the Mangalore Musical and Cultural Association (MMCA) from November 5-18, 2006 saw an array of fun filled events. Providing a platform for budding talent, the organizers conducted various competitions for all age groups.

If flower arrangement, painting, sketching, essay writing, fancy dress, music, singing and dance were some of the common competitions held, contests such as most talented school pupil leader, salad dressing  and various instrumental solo pieces definitely added more charm to the event. 

The participants included everyone from tiny tots to teachers to senior citizens. For the literary events, those not very fluent with the English language were evaluated separately.

“Gitanjali” on the November 19 saw the culmination of a fortnight of fun and frolic. The guest of honour for the function was Fr Dennis D’Sa, Administrator, Fr Muller Medical College while coffee planter L B Aranha presided over.

Prizes were distributed to all winners. On this occasion, awards for meritorious services rendered to the society through music and other allied activities were conferred on Fr Ronald A Sequeira, Former Director, Mangala Jyoti, Fr Eugene Lobo, Principal, St Aloysius College, Fr Dennis D’Sa, Former Director, Sandesha, Fr Alwyn Sequeira, Carmel Hill and John D’Silva, Principal, St Aloysius PU College.
