Mangaluru, Dec 1: "The present goal of BJP is to make Karnataka a Congress-free state. We are aggressive in our campaign. After winning in Maharashtra and Haryana, we also want Karnataka to be completely freed from Congress' distorted ideology, anti-people policies and corrupt politics," said Muralidhar Rao, BJP national general secretary and in charge of Karnataka BJP affairs.
Addressing a press meet in Mangaluru on Monday December 1, he said, "BJP is in consolidation mode and membership drive is on. After years of hard labour, we have made BJP truly an all-India party. People have accepted the party.
Public support in the last election was tremendous like a tidal wave. In 2009 elections, BJP secured 8 crore votes and 2014 elections, 17 crore votes with an increase of whopping 9 crore. The majority of these votes were from the youth. We got their massive mandate because we enrolled them as party members. The party understands the importance of membership drive which converts party supporters into party members," Rao added.
Rao revealed his plans of making BJP the largest party in the world when he said, "After March 31, 2015 we intend to make BJP as the world's largest party, even beating Communist Party of China in membership."
"One can enroll as party member by giving a missed call. Party workers will approach members for verification with party terms and conditions," he added.
"BJP will become strong in states where it has weaker presence. BJP will focus on Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Eastern states like Bengal, Assam and Odisha," he said.
Ridiculing other parties, he said, "Every other party has become family political party without regard for even internal democracy."
Referring to BJP's plans to protest against the state government during Belgavi session, he said, "We are competitive when it comes to retaining our positions. On December 9, we will take out massive protest rally during the Belagavi session against the present government on its mismanagement in governance."
Answering how BJP will counter Congress onslaught in ongoing sessions, he said, "They are like KG students learning the art of onslaught. Opposition is a new game for them which they are yet to learn. But they will be there for next few years to play the role. People will also watch how effective they are as opposition. BJP is not scared of opposition. Modi's government is fully prepared. We will utilize the opportunity in the Parliament to expose Congress. We will provide full information to the people in every aspect."
Answering the questions from reporters on the image of BJP in Karnataka, Rao said, "Things have changed. Young people are joining, which has injected much dynamism. We are also fighting in West Bengal. Our party is completely united in making the state a Congress Mukth Karnataka. Karanataka government has to perform. They are failing and we will not allow the way they are behaving. BJP will not remain passive. We are here to defend the interests of the people of Karnataka."
