BJP demands probe into AAP funding

New Delhi, Dec 1 (IANS): The Delhi unit of the BJP Monday demanded a probe into the funding of the Aam Aadmi Party and said a party delegation will Tuesday meet Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to lodge a complaint.

"All those who donated to Aam Aadmi Party's fund-raising event held recently should be probed by the income tax department. The party should post the names of each donor along with the amount donated on its website," Bharatiya Janata Party parliamentarian Ramesh Bidhuri said.

The AAP Sunday raised over Rs.50 lakh at a fund-raising lunch organised by the party's traders' wing.

"A delegation will meet the finance minister (Jaitley) tomorrow (Tuesday) and demand a probe into the funding (of the AAP)," he added.

Ashwini Upadhyay, who recently quit the AAP, accused party chief Arvind Kejriwal of being funded by foreign NGOs.

"The AAP has put up so many hoardings and banners and is spending so much on radio advertisements. Where is the money coming from? The party is being funded by foreign NGOs," he said.
