Four policemen killed in Afghanistan attack

Kabul, Dec 3 (IANS): Four policemen were killed when suspected Taliban militants attacked a police checkpoint in Afghanistan's Jauzjan province early Wednesday.

"The armed insurgents attacked a police checkpoint in Darzab district at 2 a.m. today, killing four police personnel and ran away," provincial police chief Faqir Mohammad Jauzjani told Xinhua.

He did not rule the involvement of Taliban in the attack, saying investigation has been initiated into the case.

In a similar attack, six Afghan army soldiers were killed in the northwest Badghis province late Monday night.
