Twitter improves tools to block annoying users

New York, Dec 3 (IANS): The micro-blogging site Twitter has changed the way users report harassment and abuse online.

In the new process, users can now report abuse with fewer steps and those not directly involved in the abuse can flag the abuse more easily.

There is a also a page to view and edit previously blocked users. The blocked users will not be able to view the profiles of the people who blocked them, the Verge reported.

"The changes we are announcing to our harassment reporting process and to our block feature are representative of our broader focus on giving people more control over their own Twitter experience, including their interactions with others," said Del Harvey, Twitter's vice president of trust and safety, in a statement.

Twitter trolls with anonymous profiles under fake names - to harass or threaten other users - have been operating for some time now.

The old process of reporting abuse on Twitter required filling up a nine-part questionnaire.

The new system has a much shorter form.
