Axis Bank keen to double its credit card customer base


Chennai, Dec 3 (IANS): Private sector Axis Bank is looking at doubling its credit card customer base to three million in three years, a senior official said Wednesday.

"We have a credit card customer base of around 1.5 million. We are expecting to double this over the next three years," Jairam Sridharan, president, consumer lending and payments, told reporters here Wednesday.

He said the monthly spend by the bank's credit card holders is currently around Rs.1,000 crore which is likely to double or treble in three years time.

According to him, the banking sector is witnessing reduction in credit card delinquencies.

Sridharan said the bank has logged 27 percent growth in retail lending portfolio during the first half of the current fiscal.
