Three militants killed in the Philippines


Manila, Dec 4 (IANS): At least three Abu Sayyaf militants were killed and three soldiers injured in a gun fight in the Philippines Thursday, the military said.

The gun battle erupted Thursday in Basilan province in south Philippines, Xinhua quoted Reynaldo Yoma, commander of the Joint Task Force, as saying.

The Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), a terrorist group operating in the southern Philippines, is notorious for a series of kidnappings, bombings and even beheadings over the past decades.
