At the inaugural session, Sajjan Jindal, CMD of JSW, an $11 billion conglomerate with a presence in steel, energy, cement, infrastructure and IT, said: "The core objectives of organising such a big event is to absorb and transfer global technology and find sources of raw material and markets for finished products. This will go long way in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make in India movement."

The event will provide opportunities for face-to-face interactions with industry players under one roof and will also fulfil the requirements of professional and skilled manpower. Export-oriented units will be able to identify new destinations as well as network in India. Heat treatment has changed beyond recognition, driven by a better understanding of the underlying science, increasing demand for products and quality requirements as also environmental considerations. In addition, the market has been shaped by technological developments such as the changing use of materials and advances in manufacturing techniques.
