Sensex up 45 points; capital goods stocks gain


Mumbai, Dec 5 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Friday was trading 44.86 points or 0.16 percent up as capital goods stocks gained.

Good buying was observed in capital goods, metal and oil and gas sectors, while selling pressure was seen in IT sector.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 28,604.50 points, was trading at 28,607.68 points (at 09.21 a.m.) in the early session, up 44.86 points or 0.16 percent from the previous day's close at 28,562.82 points.

The Sensex has touched a high of 28,651.75 points and a low of 28,567.84 points in the trade so far.

The S&P capital goods index gained 76.14 points, metal index moved up by 72.49 points and oil and gas index inched up by 71.09 points.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 10.60 points or 0.12 percent up at 8,575 points.
