Albania, Britain ink deal to curb human-trafficking

London, Dec 5 (IANS): Albania and Britain have signed a memorandum of understanding to beef up cooperation against human-trafficking and other organised crimes.

The deal was signed in London Thursday by Albanian Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri and British Home Secretary Theresa May, Xinhua reported Friday citing Albanian Daily News.

"Albania stands firm in the fight against organised crime and corruption, drugs and human-trafficking," Tahiri said.

"We have launched reforms in the sector of security and we are determined to push ahead with legal and restructuring reforms," the minister added.

Theresa May, however, said: "We are willing to intensify cooperation between the law-enforcement agencies."
