Muscat, Dec 5: The Muscat United Pangalites marked the beginning of Advent season with a pompous Christmas party held recently at the Rehab Hotel party hall at Azaiba.
The function commenced with a tableau presented by children depicting the birth of baby Jesus and the dance of angels and shepherds around the Holy family. The tableau was organized by Melvin Menezes and Lavina D’Sa led the prayer.
Association president Shyla Machado welcomed the gathering .The families of the Muscat United Pangalites then gathered together to sing the medley of Christmas carols.
Stany Menezes and Remy Lobo inducted the new committee for the year 2015. Vinod D’Costa was nominated as the president, Trecilla Menezes as vice-president, Steevan Quadros as the secretary, Linda D’Souza as the cultural secretary and Prakash D’Sa as the treasurer.
The current president Shyla Machado then handed over the Kuswar to the newly-elected president. For the first time ever, the committee members got together to prepare the traditional Christmas sweets Kuswar as it was prepared back at home at Prakash D’Sa's residence. It was served to the audience in the hall.
A Children Santa dance was presented by Liza, Sharon, Rianna, Chelsea and Calida wherein Santa Claus also joined in the dance and enjoyed with the children. The dance was choreographed by Liza D’Sa. Santa Claus also distributed chocolates to all the children.
Joel Mendonca very eloquently compered the whole event while Terry D’Souza organized all the games and kept the audience thrilled.
The comedy trio named as MTS express comprising of Melwin Menezes, Terry D’Souza and Sunil D’Sa tickled every funny bone with their flawless performance.
The Dancing Divas which consisted of the ladies, Tina Saldanha, Trescilla Menezes , Violet Lobo, Renita Quadros and Linda D’Souza then presented a mesmerizing dance performance to a medley of songs which was truly appreciated by the audience. Dynet Fernandes choreographed the dance.
A Cake and Kuswar draw was held, followed by Housie Housie. DJ Stany Menezes kept the party alive with his music. Lavina D’Sa presented the vote of thanks. Sumptuous dinner was served to the gathering and the party concluded with a non-stop dance session.
