Doha, Dec 8: In an one sided encounter QALCO trounced HANAN XII by 131 runs to lift the 26th CDC Cricket Tournament 2014 trophy.
Construction Development Company (CDC) have been the strongest sponsor of the Qatar Veteran’s Cricket League, sponsoring a tournament every year since the start of the League tournaments in 1988.
At the prize distribution ceremony the chief guest was Sanjiv Jain, Business Development Manager and the guest of honor was Kadar of C.D.C.
Mansoor Khan specially flew in from Dubai to witness the finals.
Winning the toss HANAN put in QALCO to bat, which seemed a right decision as QALCO were struggling at 76 runs for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of 10 overs. However Ifzal played a stellar innings hammering 70 runs off only 24 deliveries including 9 sixes and 1 boundary. In the 19th over he slammed Nizam for 34 runs including 5 sixes and a boundary. QALCO went on to score 203 runs for the loss of 10 wickets. Sarfaraz contributed 30 runs off 18 balls with 3 sixes and 1 boundary.
Imran, Aswar and Zamir took 2 wickets each while Rahil, Rauf, and Nizam took a wicket each.
In reply HANAN batting under pressure were 61 runs for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of 10 over and finally were 72runs all out in the 13th over. Opener Niyamat scored 16 runs with 2 sixes while the only other batsman to reach double figures was Rauf with 10 runs.
Fareed excelled in bowling taking 4 wickets giving away only 8 runs Abbas took 2 wickets while Shahid, Budhika, Majeed, Muzzamil and Intikhab took 1 wicket each.

Chidananda Nayak and his team of M Pallonji was kind enough to construct a stage for the prize distribution ceremony.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament.
The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.
