Seven killed in UP road accident


Lucknow, Dec 8 (IANS): Seven people were killed Monday in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district when a tractor rammed into a car, police said.

The accident took place in the morning in Dhaura area when eight people were returning home from a gathering to mourn a death. Their car was hit by a speeding tractor, police said.

The accident was so severe that the car turned into a mangled heap of steel, killing seven people on the spot and critically injuring another.

The injured person has been admitted to a hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical.

All the victims were men. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The driver of the tractor fled the scene, police said.
