Bengal man kills brother

Kolkata, Dec 8 (IANS): A tussle over who would host dinner for their only sister led to a farmer hacking his younger brother to death in West Bengal's Birbhum district, police said Monday.

The incident occurred Sunday night in Murarai, some 260 km from here.

To celebrate Nabanna, the annual harvest festival, their married sister Kanak came visiting and stayed at her elder brother Satyaban's house.

However, the younger brother Kanko insisted that the sister should stay at his house and he would host her for dinner. This led to a fight between the brothers.

"A heated argument ensued over which brother would host the sister for dinner. Subsequently, in a fit of rage, Satyaban attacked his brother with a sickle and killed him. The accused is on the run after the incident," Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Rampurhat) N. Koteswar Rao, told IANS.
