Haryana hospitals to have separate house-keeping wing

Chandigarh, Dec 9 (IANS): Government hospitals in Haryana will now have a separate house-keeping wing to ensure cleanliness and hygiene, state Health Minister Anil Vij said Tuesday.

"A separate house-keeping wing would be established for ensuring cleanliness in all government hospitals," he told media here, adding keeping hospitals clean would be accorded priority as patients come there to get treated.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had earlier said that a project for the efficient management of hospitals through house-keeping services would be launched soon. He said that this will improve the efficiency of doctors and hygienic standards of hospitals.

The pilot project for house-keeping would be launched in Ambala and Karnal districts. Khattar represents Karnal while Vij comes from Ambala.

At present, besides attending the OPDs (out-patient departments), government doctors in Haryana have to take care of hospital house-keeping services, which are adversely affecting their performance, Vij said.
