Minister denies CIA secret prison in Thailand

Bangkok, Dec 11 (IANS): Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Suwapan Tanyuwattana, Thursday denied the existence of any CIA secret prison and interrogation complex in Thailand.

Responding to the US Senate intelligence committee's report which includes Thailand as one of the host countries for CIA prisons, Tanyuwattana said it was not true, the National News Bureau of Thailand said.

He said Thailand never hosted any secret prisons or interrogation complexes. He believed that the information has evolved from internal issues of the US authorities and caused confusion through rumours.

He also said that the foreign ministry would be taking care of this issue and would decide on how to respond to this false information.

The minister mentioned that the security agencies were now following up on related information.
