Home bakers to showcase goodies at Kolkata 'bake sale'

Kolkata, Dec 11 (IANS): An array of homemade sweet and savoury baked goods, including cakes, cookies, and breads, will tickle taste buds of foodies Dec 13 at the first sale for home bakers here.

Around ten home bakers, accompanied by eight food bloggers will display their passion for baking at the day-long bake sale organised by the Kolkata Food Bloggers (KFB) group at Golf Green in south Kolkata.

In addition to the basics, the home bakers will put up stalls displaying a mix of healthy, comforting delights such as chocolates, jams and jellies.

"Bake sales and fairs in association with home bakers are popular in other major cities. In Kolkata, the concept is yet to catch on. This will be the first time where a bake sale is being organised exclusively for the home bakers," Pritha, a member of KFB, told IANS.

To encourage children, special events such as decorating cupcakes will be put up.

"The home bakers will get exposure and will be able to reach out to theA general public through the sale," added Pritha.
