Users' engagement up 7 times in GOSF 2014


New Delhi, Dec 12 (IANS): The Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) 2014 witnessed seven times more users' engagement than last year, Nitin Bawankule, industry director, eCommerce, Google India said here Friday.

The GOSF spanned Dec 10-12 this year. A total of 1.4 crore-plus visitors accessed the site during the online shopping gala as compared to 20 lakh users last year.

“We had over 450-plus partners across categories including many first time participants and the response has been phenomenal for all partners. We got 80 lakh visits to the site during the three-day festival. And a total of 1.4 crore-plus visits to the site including promotion period. Compared to last year, the user engagement is up by 7 times compared to last time of 20 lakh visits,” he said.

People from 220 cities in India participated in the festival. Huge consumer involvement and participation from smaller cities like Ranchi, Guntur, Hubli, Bareilly and Firozpur, among others, was also seen.

Categories that saw maximum engagement and sales were electronics, men's and women's lifestyle items and home & kitchen appliances.

Over 500 houses were booked during the shopping festival across all real estate partners. Around 50 cars and 100-plus bikes were also booked.

Among all the buyers, 40 percent of the users accessed the site through mobile devices.
