New York, Dec 14 (IANS): Porn addiction forces men to deliberately conjure images of pornography during sex to maintain arousal and have concerns over their own sexual performance and body image, a study has found.
The findings showed that the more pornography a man watches, the more likely he was to use it during sex and request particular pornographic sex acts of his partner.
For the study, the team surveyed 487 male college students in the US in the age group 18-29.
Ana Bridges, an associate professor of psychology and her colleagues at the University of Arkansas in the US, found that the more men watched porn, the more they relied on pornographic fantasies in the bedroom as well.
Higher pornography use was negatively associated with enjoying sexually intimate behaviour with a partner.
"Most of porn focus on acts of violence and degradation toward women, neglecting tender touches, kissing, laughing and verbal compliments," Bridges added.
The findings were published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior.
