10 killed after chemical tanker explodes on Delhi-Jaipur highway


Jaipur, Dec 14 (NDTV): Ten people have been killed and 12 others are seriously injured after a chemical tanker exploded on the Delhi-Jaipur highway today.

The number of dead could go higher as many of those injured are in hospital in critical condition.

The incident happened near Chandwaji, about 40 kilometres from Jaipur.

Eyewitnesses say some vehicles collided with each other on National Highway 8 due to an accident and then a tanker carrying chemical Butonil, coming from the back, rammed the stalled vehicles and burst into flames.

Due to the explosion, other vehicles on the road also caught fire.

    Its unfortunate and sad that so many people lost their lives. May their souls rest in peace. Accidents are preventable and hope the authorities learn enough lessons to prevent such accidents in the future.
