Telangana to build Cinema City, Sports City near Hyderabad


Hyderabad, Dec 15 (IANS): The Telangana government will develop world-class Cinema City and Sports City at Rachakonda Hills at Rachakonda near here, it was announced Monday.

A decision was taken after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao Monday made an aerial survey of the area located on the border between Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts.

Accompanied by two ministers, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, collectors of the two districts and other senior officials, he also walked around the area.

According to an official statement, they found the area suitable for the Cinema City and Sports City.

About 31,000 acre land is available in Rachakonda, which has a historic fort and is a key tourist attraction. The area is already famous for shooting of Telugu films.

The chief minister also said universities and other educational institutions should also come up in the area as it provides pollution-free environment for the learning.

The Cinema City is proposed on a par with Hollywood to give fillip to the cinema and television industry in the state.

This is the second time this month that the chief minister made an aerial survey to identify land for the mega projects.

He along with officials and representatives of pharma companies had made an aerial survey of Muchurla area of Ranga Reddy district. They identified 11,000 acres to develop world-class Pharma City. Rao also announced that pharma companies are ready to invest Rs.30,000 crore to set up their units in the Pharma City.
