Myanmar president to attend Bangkok summit


Yangon, Dec 16 (IANS): Maynmar President U Thein Sein will attend the 5th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in the Thai capital of Bangkok, it was announced Tuesday.

The president will attend the two-day summit Dec 19-20, Xinhua reported.

Under the theme of "Committed to Inclusive and Sustainable Development in the GMS", the summit will comprise activities of GMS Investment Forum, GMS Youth Forum, Development Partners' Roundtable, GMS Business Forum and 5th Summit of Task Force's Senior Officials' Meeting on the first day.

On the final day, there will be Leaders' Retreat meeting to discuss important GMS issues, challenges and future directions.

Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam are the members of the GMS.
