Lucknow/Dehradun, Dec 16 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh continued to reel under cold wave conditions Tuesday after fresh snowfall in the neighbouring hill state of Uttarakhand.
The day was bright and sunny in Lucknow, but icy cold winds swept through the region, resulting in a drop in temperature by a few notches.
A blanket of thick fog was recorded in Uttar Pradesh last week for five days, affecting normal life and disrupting traffic.
Nainital and Almora regions in Uttarakhand have received heavy snowfall in the past 24 hours.
Almora received snowfall after a gap of three decades, surprising locals. The weatherman said snowfall in the Garud and Baheshwar valleys was not a normal occurrence and attributed it to a western disturbance.
The Met Office has forecast harsher days in the coming week.
