Mangalore, Nov 30: The union government and the railway ministry have consented for the upgradation of Konkani railway station at Byndoor near here.
This was announced by Byndoor MLA K Gopal Poojary at a press conference here on Wednesday November 29. He further said that state minister for railway R Velu has also consented to re-name the railway station as "Kollur Shri Mookambika Road Station Byndoor."
A delegation including H Subraya Serugar, Krishna Prasad Adyantaya, members of Kundapur taluk Railway Welfare Forum, TP member Raju Devadiga, Venkatesh Shenoy, Rajesh K C and others and led by union minister Oscar Fernandes has recently met R Velu at New Delhi and convinced him about the necessity of upgrading the railway station.
As reported earlier, the issue of upgrading the said railway station has been pending for quite sometime now. Despite number of protests, appeals and meetings no progress was ever done in this regard. However, the present news is a relief for all especially who have contributed selflessly towards this cause.
