German inputs for better Indian homeopathy medicine manufacturing

Kolkata, Dec 16 (IANS): German homeopaths will help train Indian manufacturers to improve their standard operating procedures and improve quality of products to bring these at par with European standards, it was announced here Tuesday.

"Manufacturing science is very well maintained here. But the processes are not controlled as European good manufacturing practices (GMP) demand," Mathias Hevert, Managing Director, Hevert Arzneimittel GmbH and Co.KG, Nassbaum, Germany said here.

"We will help elevate the GMP status to European GMP status so that they can manufacture homeopathic products on par with European standards here in India," he said.

He was in Kolkata to announce the technical collaboration between the family-run German homeopathic enterprise and Emami Group's two homeopathic arms: M. Bhattacharyaa and Co. Pvt. Ltd. and King and Co. (Homoeo Chemist) Pvt. Ltd.

As part of the partnership, three deals have been inked for distribution and marketing, GMP consultancy and license for manufacturing select German formulations in India.

"So, we will support the local manufacturing in that way. Having standard operating procedures ensure all employees follow the guidelines. We will help in training so that it raises the possibility of high quality," Hevert said.

Of the six products that Hevert is introducing in India, stress, pain and allergy relief medications are the focus.

"While researching, we found India has a big problem with stress. The remedy is very effective and even youngsters can use it to cope with exam anxiety."

"Our homeopathic remedies are safe for kids and the elderly as well," Hevert said, adding the premium imported products are targeted at the upper and middle class.
