Delhi HC to hear plea against fake arm licences Jan 8


New Delhi, Dec 17 (IANS): Delhi High Court will hear Jan 8, 2015, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction to authorities for seizure of the illegal arms and ammunition and appropriate legal action against the persons who procure fake arms licences.

The PIL filed by an NGO Paardarshita Public Welfare Foundation through its General Secretary Harkrishan Das Nijhawan, said: "...thousands of criminals and antisocial elements are roaming across the country with these kind of fake and illegal arms licences putting the lives of the citizens in danger as well as those of the foreign dignitaries arriving as chief guest for the Republic Day parade in Delhi Jan 26, 2015."

The petitioner told the division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice P.S. Teji that he wrote a complaint to the government apprising it of the numerous fake arms licences and requesting attention to prevent these kind of illegal activities.

The NGO requested the court to issue directions for seizing the illegal arms and ammunitions and take appropriate legal action against the persons who procured the fake arms licences (All India) and the persons who are involved in this illegal rackets for issuance of fake arms licence issued to the residents of Delhi.
