Technip bags ONGC onshore terminal contract

New Delhi, Dec 17 (IANS): French exploration infrastructure company Technip's India arm Wednesday announced it had bagged an Euro 100 million contract from Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) to build an onshore terminal at Odalarevu, Andhra Pradesh, as part of the integrated development of specific ONGC fields in the eastern offshore.

"These Vashishta (VA) and S1 fields are located 30-35 km off the Amalapuram coast in the Krishna-Godavari basin off the east coast at water depths of 250 to 700 meters. The onshore terminal awarded to Technip is one of the critical components of the integrated development of VA and S1 fields," Technip said in a release here.

The company's scope of work for this contract includes the design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, inspection and testing, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning of the new onshore terminal, it added.

The hydrocarbons extracted from the deep-water offshore fields will be transported to the proposed onshore terminal for processing.

Technip's operating center here will execute the project scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2016.

"This is our second contract from ONGC following the Heera Redevelopment (HRD) process platform project and confirms our position as a major contractor in the Indian oil and gas sector," Nicoletta Giadrossi, Technip's regional president said in a statement.
