Robber arrested in Delhi


New Delhi, Dec 17 (IANS): A 35-year-old robber, who was in Delhi Police's list of top 10 criminals, has been arrested, police said Wednesday.

Ramesh Babban, who was involved in 31 cases including 28 cases of snatching, was arrested Saturday from Sector 22 in Rohini.

Babban was arrested when he was handing over a stolen gold chain to Raj Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said. Raj Kumar, 42, was also arrested from the spot.

Babban told interrogators that he has snatched and robbed numerous gold chains from K.N. Katju Marg and Prashant Vihar areas alongwith his associate Vikram who is already in judicial custody.

"Babban used to sell the snatched gold chains to Raj Kumar. First time, he was arrested in gold chain snatching case in 2010. Consequently, he was arrested in a number of snatching cases. Due to his continuous criminal activities, he became one of the top 10 robbers," Yadav said.
