GDA launches van service to help poor apply for houses

Ghaziabad, Dec 17 (IANS): To alleviate the problems of the weaker sections of society, the authorities Wednesday launched a mobile van service here to help them apply for houses being launched by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).

The concerned people would not be required to visit the GDA office in order to apply for the EWS (economically weaker section) and LIG (low income group) houses.

GDA vice chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav, while flagging off the van, said that ICICI bank had provided a van which would transport a bank employee and a GDA staffer. Together they would visit slums and inform their residents about the procedures related to applying for the houses.

"It is a remarkable facility for the poor people who are unaware about the procedures. Now, they would not be required to visit the GDA office," said Yadav.
