Cold wave sweeps Kashmir, Leh freezes at minus 15


Srinagar, Dec 18 (IANS): Cold wave conditions continued unabated in Kashmir Thursday as Leh town recorded the season's coldest night at minus 14.6 degrees Celsius, the weather office said.

The minimum temperature in Kargil town was minus 14.4 degrees Celsius Thursday, while Srinagar city recorded an overnight temperature of minus 4.2, the Met Office said.

Gulmarg and Pahalgam recorded minus 2.2 and minus 6.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

The minimum temperature in Jammu city was 4.5 degrees Celsius Thursday.

The weather office has forecast dry weather during the next 24 hours across Jammu and Kashmir, indicating a further drop in night temperatures.
