UN condemns bomb attacks in Yemen

United Nations, Dec 18 (IANS): The UN Security Council has condemned bomb attacks in Yemen which killed dozens of people, including children.

"Members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) reiterated their condemnation of violations and abuses committed against children by terrorists," Xinhua reported citing a statement issued by the council.

Condemning the growing number of attacks carried out or sponsored by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the council reiterated that any individual or entity which provides financial or material support to the group is eligible to be added to the Al-Qaeda Sanctions List.

Two car bombs went off targeting Shiite Houthi gunmen in Radaa Tuesday. Local media reported that around 26 lives were lost which included 15 school children.

Radaa was a bastion of the Yemen-based AQAP and fell into control of Shiite Houthi group in late October after deadly clashes between the two sides.
