Pakistani court grants bail to 26/11 key accused Lakhvi


Islamabad, Dec 18 (IANS): Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and one of the main accused in the 26/11 Mumbai attack, was granted bail Thursday by Pakistan's Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prosecutor disagreed with the bail request. However advocate Rizwan Abbasi, representing Lakhvi, appeared before the court as the bail pleas was granted, Dawn online reported.

The ATC granted the bail on a bond of Pakistani Rs.500,000.

Lakhvi is among the seven people charged with planning and helping to execute the 26/11 carnage that claimed 166 lives, including those of foreigners and injured hundreds more.
