India committed to safety of foreign nationals: V.K. Singh


New Delhi, Dec 18 (IANS): India was committed to ensuring the safety and security of all foreign nationals in the country, including those from African countries, Minister of State for External Affairs Gen. (retd) V.K Singh has assured African envoys.

The minister conveyed this during a meeting with African envoys here Dec 17.

The meeting was part of regular interactions.

V.K. Singh also strongly condemned instances of violence and racially motivated comments against African nationals in India.

He said India has a long history of inclusive and cosmopolitan culture.

Based on India's constitutional and legislative provisions, the government follows the highest standards of inclusivity and democratic values and has zero tolerance for racism in any form, an official statement said.
