Security tightened at Bodh Gaya temple

Patna, Dec 18 (IANS): Security was Thursday tightened at the Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya after the terror attack in Pakistan's Peshawar city, a top official said.

"We have tightened security at the temple following an intelligence alert after the terror attack in Peshawar," Gaya Senior Superintendent of Police Nishant Kumar Tiwari said.

Tiwari and other senior police officials Wednesday night took stock of the security arrangements at the temple in Bodh Gaya, 110 km from here.

He said three companies of Bihar Military Police have been deployed at the temple.

The holiest Buddhist shrine was last year hit by serial bomb blasts.

Police in Bodh Gaya said a high-tech security team, including a dog squad, were examining the temple premises every two hours.

"Police are also keeping a close vigil on all Buddhist monasteries and hotels," an official said.
