Kashmir shivers due to cold wave


Srinagar, Dec 19 (IANS): The night temperatures across Kashmir remained several notches below the freezing point Friday as the weather office said the present cold wave conditions in the region will continue till Sunday.

The minimum temperature was minus 4.2 degrees Celsius in Srinagar Friday, while it was minus 2.6 in Gulmarg and minus 7.2 in Pahalgam, the Met Office said.

Leh town of Ladakh region recorded a minimum temperature of minus 12.5, while Kargil town of the same region recorded minus 12.1 degrees Celsius Friday.

The lowest night temperature in Jammu city was 5.9 degrees Celsius Friday, while the maximum temperature in Jammu was 10.2 degrees Celsius Thursday, the lowest maximum temperature recorded in this season so far.
