Mangalore, Dec 4: ICGS Savitribai Phule, an extra fast patrol vessel, of the Indian Coast Guard fitted with high-tech navigation equipment, would arrive at New Mangalore Port on December 4, according to a Coast Guard release.

The ship commissioned at Vasco-da-Gama, Goa, on October 28 would be based in Mangalore under the control of Commander of Karnataka District headquarters of the Coast Guard. After commissioning it was deputed to Mumbai for Indo-Japanese exercise off coast of Maharashtra. After carrying out enroute patrol it will arrive here on Monday morning. Commandant Donny Michael was commanding the vessel. The ship would join the Coast Guard fleet here to meet any kind of security threat and challenges off coast of Karnataka.

ICGS Savitribai Phule is the fifth in the series of extra fast patrol vessels designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited for Indian Coast Guard.
