Venkaiah Naidu inaugurates Delhi-Noida underpass

New Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS): Union Urban Development Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu Friday inaugurated an underpass connecting the national capital to the neighbouring suburb of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, an official statement said.

Constructed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Indian Railways, at a cost of Rs. 260 crore, the 1.09 km long underpass in south Delhi's Sarita Vihar connects Noida to Okhla and promises to significantly reduce commuting time.

Along with a number of slip roads, the under pass will also have cycle tracks and footpath.

"The government is working to reduce traffic congestion in the national capital, in a holistic manner, by increasing the coverage through metro, roads and railway, and constructing flyovers and bridges," Naidu said.

"Special attention is being made to expeditiously complete the projects pending for a long time," he added.
