MEA strips Devyani Khobragade of her charge for unauthorized statements to media

New Delhi, Dec 20 (Agencies): The Ministry of External Affairs has stripped diplomat Devyani Khobragade of her duties as director in the partnership development division, in view of the unauthorized statements made by her in the media.

The MEA has placed her on "compulsory watch" which means although she retains her post she is without a job for now and may face further action according to sources.

The ministry is also said to be "miffed" with Khobragade for not disclosing that her children have US passports. A vigilance investigation is said to be under way against her, with her reinstatement unlikely until a verdict is reached.

Khobragade, a 1999 Indian Foreign Service officer was at the centre of a diplomatic storm between Delhi and Washington last year. She was arrested and strip-searched on charges of ill-treating her domestic help. The charges were denied by both the Indian government and Khobragade.

Just because she is Khobragade with special 'privileges', it does not mean that she Khobragade ragade the law with her her father. Such people must be kept at their own deserving places.

Good step! ... she has to follow the protocol.. she is been rescued from jail, even though the charges against her were grave and she had no diplomatic immunity in those terms!... but instead of keeping quiet she was ranting openly!...specially during the maharastra election...! you can't put a Bilateral relations with different global coimmunity in jeopardy for your selifsh reasons!... she was warned and not to speak.. but she wanted the way out of her job anyways it looks like.. she cant go back to US where her husband resides.... I am sure, she will join Congress or AAP soon and cash in on her "DALIT" status riding those gullible voters and gets immunity for her fathers misdeeds in ADARSH FLAT SCAM too!! pathetic it is...

U S government too had agreed in court she had diplomatic immunity at the time of her arrest, for the same reason the court dismissed the trial & later US had its vengeance by expelling her.
Once she left their shore without the job again they filed a case.
Facts cannot be sidelined just like US did in this case.
Big Brother has an ally now in India Too!

Don't forget that this lady has a flat booked in her name in the famous 'Adarsh' Society in mumbai. Who knows she might have claimed that she is a war widow of Kargil War, though her husband is a USA citizen and alive. People are forgetting that Maywati started telling that since this lady is a Dalit, she is being ill treated in USA. So the whole india govt machinery went out of its way to defend this lady. UPA govt. was looking for strengthening its Dalit vote bank.
