Himachal seeks funds to link panchayats with roads


New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Saturday called on union Rural Development Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh here and sought additional assistance for connecting panchayats with the road network.

He apprised the union minister that the state has formulated a comprehensive plan to connect all the panchayats with roads in a phased manner.

Kaul Singh also urged him to release approved Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) funds to the state at the earliest so that development work does not suffer.

He also sought restoration of deducted MNREGA funds and money for construction of toilets in the panchayat areas.
