Kuwait, Dec 6: "Writing poetry is not just a hobby but also its a mission to see things beyond and wake up the people"

After a very successful column of Tinteraanth Pinturaam (Images through pen) - a unique online poetry contest in konkani, conducted by www.daaiz.com, now heading for its next version of the competition, Utranth Sutram (Formulae through words). The concept of this column is, for each episode, few words will be given as 'Sutram', and poets have to write poetry using these words. The most unique poem will be chosen as the 'Poem of the month' and the poet of this will be given 'Poet of the month' prize carries Rs.500 worth konkani books, a certificate.

In Tinteraanth Pinturaam, already 12 poets have been chosen for the prize and one poet will be chosen as 'DAAIZ POET OF THE YEAR 2006' which carries Rs.7500 worth prize and a certificate, which will be presented during the Daaiz Literary Workshop which will be conducted in 2007. A unique anthology of poetry, which will feature the
selected poems from this column. In the 12 episodes of Tintheranth Pinturaam, as much as 150 poems were being published on various themes/images.

In Utranth Sutraam, apart from the poet of the month, there will be three poets chosen to receive the prize of Rs.15000 (First prize Rs.7500, Second prize Rs.5000, Third prize Rs.2500). Anyone can take part in this contest, however there are few guidelines whichare given bellow;

1. Anyone can take part in this contest, but the poem should be written in Kannada, Devanagari, Romi, Malayalam or Urdu fonts only.
2. The poems will be transliterated into kannada script as the column is in kannada script konkani.
3. One poet can send only one poem along with a snap and a brief literary profile to info@daaiz.com.
4. The poem can be handwritten and scanned and sent in any format.
5. The poem shouldn't have been published anywhere or sent for publication to anywhere.
6. Daaiz reserves the rights to publish the poem - both in the site as well as in the Anthology of poems.
7. Selected poem will be published in konkani periodicals and its English/Hindi translation will be published in other websites/magazines.
8. The given words for an episode can be used anywhere in the poem, however it is must that these words are being used.
9. The poem shouldnt have any words insulting any individual/association/region/religion or shouldnt contain any objectionable words.
