Mangalore, Dec 7: Faculty of Arts, St Aloysius College is organizing an intercollegiate cultural fest ‘Art-Beat’ on December 8 and 9, 2006.

Dr Sanjeev Rai, Dean, Fr Muller Medical College will be the chief guest. Fr Francis Serrao, rector, St Aloysius Institutions will preside over the function.

Art Beat - 2006 attempts to bring together talents from various colleges to nurture and further develop their personalities. It tries to redefine the boundaries of ‘Arts’ by incorporating various disciplines of humanities into the fest.  Thus, the fest not only provides students with an opportunity to hone their leadership skills, but also help in exhibiting and exploring their multifarious talents. It is a forum for students from various colleges to come together and display their talents, appreciate others’ and thus grow together, irrespective of college, locality, or language barrier, stated a press release from the college.
 
The events to be held during Art Beat 2006 include Art 2 Word (Interpretation of picture), Quest Parle (parliamentary sessions), Street Play (perception of two faces of India), Historia Indika (knowledge of India’s cultural heritage), Brief Case (analyze and summarize the shown film), Turncoat (speak for and against the topic), Art Brain (quiz), Socio Drama (skit portraying social problems), Misinterpretation (wrong interpretation of a given picture) and Campus Jazz (views on campus life using any medium)

The valedictory function will be held on December 9, 2006 at 4.30 pm. Prof Rolphie Mascarenhas, former Dean, Arts faculty, will be the chief guest. Fr Eugene Lobo, Principal, St Aloysius College, will preside over the function.
